The Maine

October 27, 2013

One of my favorite things about fall are the concerts, some of my favored bands have been touring lately and I've been busy attending their shows. Recently, I went to The Maine's concert in my city and wasn't as impressed with the show as I was with the person. My friend and I were lucky enough to meet the lead singer John O'Callaghan. As I said before and will repeatedly say, concerts require comfort. So, I brought out an oversized sweater to accommodate for the chilly weather while we waited eagerly for the meet&greet. I decided to dress this sweater up with a silk flannel and peaked the collar out to add color. To keep the outfit simple I coupled the sweater with black jeans and chose fun, chunky oxfords with fringe detailing along with my favorite statement necklace to customize the overall look.

Pinafore

October 20, 2013

This week lingered on and everyday I still reminisced about the weekend fun I had. When Friday  came around I was ready to relax, run errands, and spend time with friends. After a birthday party I attended I had a few things to get around town. I decided to sport a comfy casual outfit and what better piece to wear than a dress. Recently I went thrift shopping (may do a post on this) and found this gorgeous forest green pinafore dress that needed to be worn asap. It's finally starting to get cold out and layering is one of the most exciting things for chilly weather, so I wore a thick knit sweater to make this dress weather appropriate. I finished this look off with playful stand out shoes paired with wool socks and a simple black cross body bag.

The 1975 gig

October 13, 2013

Last night seemed surreal, from what started out as just being lucky enough to catch The 1975  playing in my city, to hanging out with the band. I had to make sure that my outfit was comfortable to accommodate the hype of the concert yet, still give off a put together vibe. Knowing this, I turned to a simple cut out jumpsuit and my favorite statement necklace and chunky edgy boots. My oversized leather trimmed blazer provided the perfect bit of warmth while waiting in line outside. The audience ended up being really relaxed and the acoustics were on point. Overall, the show was sick and is now hands down the best gig I've been to yet!

Gardenia

October 6, 2013

So I recently bought this sick kimono from my favorite style blogger idressmyselff and from the minute I saw it I immediately knew it had to be put to use. I figured that a dinner date with my closest friend velveteenn would suit this look best. Now, I know what your thinking because I thought the same- how am I going to wear this? Well, I decided that since the kimono is a stand out blatant piece it deserved to be toned down with modern accessories. I chose a cuff sleeved tee with a bold statement to transition this outfit from traditional to modish and paired that with my favorite origami skirt, (ironic I know) to match the kimono and the contemporary vibe I was going for. Now for shoes, I chose point toe leather flats to once again modernize the outfit and stay simple, keeping the kimono as the main focus. To top off this look I dressed the tee shirt up with chunky necklaces, those being a thick chain and a gold collar; the bag tied in the black and gold and proved to be simply perfect for this look.
